  1. After two hours of practice throwing this morning: I need to post in the "Help, I cannot center," and the "Help, I cannot pull walls, and the " Why in the he** did I buy a wheel anyway" threads.

      Tom, I have been through that and is very distressing. I'm so sorry. That mental turmoil alone could be keeping you from being able to relax and throw. I hope they are able to get the help they need.

      Tom, I had soooooo many problems with wheel throwing, for many years, so I do understand what frustration you have. But, I think what helped me the most, was convincing myself that I needed help. And before I came on PC, after I was gone for a while, I watched YouTube. I watched those masters over and over. And I tried. And I failed. But then, I heard, somewhere, that the clay consistency must be relative to what you are throwing. Oh yeah, it was Bill van Gilder. He said, (paraphrase) if you...

      Ah heck, I had a lot more, LOL, it got wiped off. Too many words. So in a nutshell, try different stiffnesses of clay; very soft, soft and medium soft. Find what works best for you. Watch https://www.youtube.com/user/youdanxxx and remember what Simon Leach says, "Keep practicing".
