For Valentines Day I hosted a couples night. Each person made a bowl from clay that I had centered and picked up to two glazes. I trimmed the feet and then did the quick dips. Not a bad money if you are able to quickly center 2 lbs of clay 40 times in a night and trim 20 strange shapes quickly.

I think I am ready enough to make Bond of Union now. There needs to be some iron highlights to bring out the face but nothing too bold. ∆6 Oxidation

Done! ..and there is now a nearly white canvas!

Colors are deceptive to how thick or thin the glaze is. The top 2/3rds is glossy blue and clear, the bottom 1/3 is tenmoku. A top coat of clear is still needed.

White clay and the same clay with iron oxide wedged into it. The piece was dunked in glaze and then scraped away leaving a pronounced coil texture. ∆6 oxidation

Watched the bowl and the mug videos. Just now learning about throwing. Post more if you got them, be glad to watch. Will never make a mug however, my hands are too big.

Great video Matthew! Nerd, I made a small tea set for my daughter, so it's not hard to make small things. And if all else fails, just make big mugs!

Smooth edges also help avoid cracks from coming.

Cutting the edges with a paper template. When cutting leather hard slabs, the knife only has to go 3/4 of the way through. Don't scar your boards and tables!

Scratching the back of tiles helps reduces cracks during the firing.
