I have done a conversion kiln also. Mine is natural gas though.  Have you got yours running efficiently? I read most of the posts concerning your kiln issues. I think enough primary air was the decided solution. Are you still doing single fire? I tried to gather any info from all the responses you were getting to see if I could gleen anything to solve my kiln issues,  especially the chimney comments. I have an exterior chimney like you do. I really think that is where I am losing too much heat. Anyway I was just wondering if you got it working properly since you haven't posted Im assuming you are making and baking away!

Yes an empty kiln fires very differently. You also need room around the shelves and kilkn walls to let heat /flame get up to top..You must force the flame up and thru load.not allowing it to rush out flue and into chimney .

ok, so I'm thinking that maybe the kiln will fire to temp if it were loaded. Maybe. If it is gas pressure issue I'm guessing that not enough volume is getting to the burner. If that is the case, I'm assuming I need to contact my utility company. I hate that idea. Yikes

I would not contact the gas co.. Most conversiuon kilns are pretty small-say 7 cubic feet-Natural gas is a delivered at 1/4 pound presue or 7 water column inches . The size of pipe matters the most in this low presure situtaion. How long is the pipe run from meter to kiln and how large is the pipe? What typoe of burners?
