Cone 10 Firing....fuming Or Glaze Appeared On Kiln Door

Recommended Posts

Our first cone 10 firing in our West Coast kiln was impressive and we felt very encouraged. We did notice that the kiln door had a new almost glazed like surface in some places....What would have possibly caused this?

I appreciate any comments or thoughts.

Thanks, Mountain Meg

Kiln finially got dried out good and my guess was all the mositure and cements and binders got hot and the fumes got moving. The soft brick seal at the door can always get discolored. Was the door cranked down tight as its should be.

How was the rest of fire (pots turn out and was temp even?)
