synj00
I have done this OVER a glaze and UNDER a glaze. Depending on the thickness of the iron oxide you might get clumps of material built up and when fired it is mostly black. The thinner the iron oxide the more brown it will be. Depending on what you want to do I dont think it should be a problem just adding it to the glaze. Just make sure that its mixed sufficiently and experiment with the amount to get what you are after.
