luhps
My brother's a cabinet maker, i was thinking of getting some very fine sawdust from him to mix with some clay. Anyone experiment with this or have some good resources? otherwise I'm just gonna go for it and see what happens.
Marcia Selsor
Fine sawdust is a good additive for clay at several temperatures. What temperature are you planning to use for this? Marcia

Marcia Selsor
It will give you some pits in the surface. Aurore Chabot uses this sometimes. Here are some examples of her sculptural work. Look for black pits on some of these. http://www.u.arizona.edu/~aurorec/ Marcia
Deb Evans
I added it to raku clay to make some large scale sculpture w/ steel wrapped around. 20% added was perfect, add more and you get soft brick. fine sawdust was easier to deal with , I sieved it. texture was great and glaze/stains sealed the surface. make sure the kiln or kiln area is vented - fumes are a knockout!
