Bob Coyle
Just Google cone 6 glaze recipes and there you are. you should also be aware of this web site that deals with pretty much nothing but cone 6 glazes. http://cone6pots.ning.com/ Also, if you are more specific, there are people here who have probably just the glaze you want, and they will share it. Biglou13
Tom Coleman recipe porcelain 30 grolleg 25. Neph Sy 30 Silica 15. Om4 2. Bentonite I'm going to alter this a bit to 30 grolleg 26.25 neph Sy 27 silica 200 3 silica 140 7 om4 8 xx sagger 1.5. Vee gum T I'm trying for a white helios like body. I need to get some c&c ball clay, I upped the nephsy to lower absorbtion at. Cone 6. I'd like to get 1% or less Added some larger silica, cause I had it , and to mix up particle sizes, added xx less iron than om 4, Since I don't have white bentonite I'm adding vee gum t. I,also, slurry. Is my clays then dry them down, they tend to need less plasticizers. And yes some purists will say it's not a true porcelain..... Ill make 25# of this later this week

Ill make 25# of this later this week please let me know how your changes pan out. I've been pricing out the very similar Campana recipe - most seem to have have high quantities of Grolleg which of course is the most expensive ingredient. Biglou13
Jammy, Grolleg is pricy but it could be worse look at new zeland kaolin. If you don't need the. Super white body EPK is good option and much better on pocket book. Still a very good porcelain. It's grey when wet, dries white fires to bit off white. I'm a big fan of epk it's local for me and I usually go to mine and pick up direct. I have yet to make a porcelain with little to no ball clay. The one with ball are already a bit finicky in throwing , drying, shaping etc etc. I imagine those low to no ball clay will be even more demanding! I've been eye balling the. Campagna recipe also. Will this be your first time making clay? I just returned from highwater with whole, bags of lizella, helmer, c&c, I already have whole bagS of epk, grolleg and small amount of tile 6. Unfortunately my next clay mix will be lizella, low fire ish. And and a wood fired body. See making clay 101 here. I couldn't find white bentonite, so I'm subbing vee gum T, There is no conversion factor when I asked I think I'll try 65% of bentonite quantity. Blunging prior to mixing clay. Any opinion here? Check out Sapphire kaolin as well, assuming it's still available. For me, it's not porcelain if it has ball clay in it. Ball clay totally ruins the feel of the clay, and I find it nicer to work with without the ball clay. Go with 2% Vee Gum T.
