Chris Campbell
Here is a nice video showing Antoinette Badenhorst throwing a thin wide rimmed bowl with Southern Ice Porcelain. Enjoy! Added on June 20 ... Video of trimming that same bowl http://m.youtube.com/#/watch?v=5p9aKzHnj7c&desktop_uri=%2Fwatch%3Fv%3D5p9aKzHnj7c
oldlady
thank you! throwing with a sponge is always easier when working with porcelain. keeps the messiness out of throwing.
Benzine
Whew, that was a tall cone, at the start! That was indeed thin, for it's size. Pretty sure I could 't do that, without flopping it. And why did it look, like there was a bat, on top a bat? What is this, Batception?
Diane Puckett
Wow. Thanks for posting this, Chris.
Kohaku
Nice. She had a pretty significant wobble early in the process, but was able to work through it quite gracefully. I'd have probably given up on that one as a bad job.
Chris Campbell
Yes, resisting the urge to attack wobbles is definitely on the learning curve of throwing. Slow and steady ... note as well the same wheel speed throughout. I liked the way she opened up the clay with the heel of her hand ... Gonna do that next time. Chris Campbell
I've just edited the original post and added on a new video of her trimming the bowl .... A few techniques I had not seen before. http://m.youtube.com/#/watch?v=5p9aKzHnj7c&desktop_uri=%2Fwatch%3Fv%3D5p9aKzHnj7c Chris
