deboone Posted August 28, 2012 Report Share Posted August 28, 2012 Hello...I glazed and fired a bowl where a hole was filled in with the glaze run off...I need the hole...does anyone know what bit I can use to drill it out...I read that a diamond bit should work with water and low speeds...please help...Thanks!!! Posted August 28, 2012 Report Share Posted August 28, 2012 The trick is to go very slow You can use a diamond bit with a little water for cooling a green silicone carbide bit--no water on a dremel tool again the key thing is go SLOW If your bowl was fired to Cone 08 it will drill just fine if its fired hotter than it will take longer to get thru. wear safety glasses Mark Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Marcia Selsor Posted August 28, 2012 Report Share Posted August 28, 2012 I have used bits with silicon carbide powder made into a paste with water. Something I had on hand when needed. Again, go slow and start with a small but not flexible drill bit. You can work up to a larger size as you go using the silicon paste method.
