zebrafinch
Anyone tried this? I've just done an anagama firing and think it would be fabulous to be able to watch what's going on inside, instead of just looking occasionally. Of course, what I'd really like is a transparent kiln, but I think the technical issues there might be too much, let alone the cost.
Rae Reich
I had a friend with the same dream. In the '80's there was talk of firing a pot within the beam of a solar collector. Theoretically, the pot would not need to be enclosed while in the field of the beam. I have no idea whether this was actually feasible. He also dreamed of being able to throw pots on the International Space Station. If the water could be adequately controlled (dry or slip throwing), imagine the heights one could obtain in zero gravity!!! Could pots conceivably be fired on the sun side of the station? sigh - I miss Gary Zeiner -
neilestrick
Several of the electric kiln manufacturers have a small (2x2) glass window available as an upgrade on their glass kilns.
