orionsbell
Hi, I'm looking to start painting china figurines and love the look of of Royal Doulton. From what I can figure out is that the cleaned bisque pieces are dipped in glaze and fired, then painted. Is it china paiting that is done to get the various gloss and matte surfaces? I want the look of the commercial pieces. My parents collect Royal Doulton and I've collected some Walt Disney Classics Collection created by Enesco. For Royal Doulton's character jugs, I know they paint with underglaze, then use clear overglaze, but how are figurines done? These pieces have combinations of gloss and matte surfaces. Please help a newbie. Thanks, Jim
oldlady
this website offers books and videos on lots of subjects. one is about china painting. you might find that more appropriate than looking for info here. most of us are potters making things from mud and then glazing and firing them. do not remember seeing any members working the way you want. look at the words at the top and find Ceramic Arts Daily to see more info.
