rjcivanoff@optonline.net
hi all, new to this forum- I hand build and am learning to throw.. I purchased standard clay #266 dark brown and #240 white stoneware DOES not have grog. I have only worked with grog clay what will happen in hand building if i use these grog free clays. I tend to make functional tableware, large platters. any help much appreciated. thanks Renee
Pres
I split this off of the area of your original post as it was off topic. This new posting in this area should give you more help in starting your clay journey. Best, Pres
bciskepottery
I regularly use Standard 266 and Highwater's Little Loafers -- both grogless stonewares -- for hand-building with no problems/issues. Groggy clays can be more forgiving, but if you use good techniques you should not have any problems.
