LinR
I want to make a glaze which calls for banta clay which is no longer available. I understand that the substitute is burgundy clay. I can't find out much about that except lots of references to wine! My pottery supplier does not have it in their catalogue. Is there a substitute for burgundy? Thanks for your help again. Min
Maybe post which red clays you have access to and the recipe then someone might be able to reformulate it with your materials.

Min
Looks like a Malcolm Davis Shino with a titch of red clay. There is so little of it that I would guess it isn't making much difference to the glaze. To get that tiny bit of iron that it is supplying I would just use 10 of whatever red clay you have access to and test that. I really don't know much about Shino's, hopefully someone who does will chime in here.
