bobfree
I was offered a chance to purchase a used but clean Shimpo RK-Whisper. I have found them online for around $998.00 with free shipping. I'm wondering what a reasonable offer would be. I've never purchased a used wheel before and have know idea how much they depreciate. The wheel is about 11 years old, comes with the splash pan and looks pretty clean. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Mark C.
400$ would be a fair offer if it all works
bobfree
Thanks for the advice! Decided not to go with the Whisper. Now I am looking at a 17 year old Brent Model C. The seller wants $650.00 for it! There needs to be a Kelley Blue Book for pottery wheels. I have no idea if that is too much or not.
Mark C.
That seem a bit high-for comparison check http://www.bennettpottery.comfor new comparisons .
MatthewV
When buying a car the two parameters would be age and miles. It really isn't too different from pottery wheels. A new Brent C is about $1200 -- how much is a 10 year warranty and glaze rebate worth to you? Does the old model stop quickly (the new one won't)? Is the wheel loud and clunky from years of use or has it sat as an aspiration forgotten? After buying new wheels because there is no used market here, $650 sounds fine if the condition is good. (Offer less, naturally)
