Viddy Posted September 16, 2015 Report Share Posted September 16, 2015 Hi ceramic arts daily folks! I am new to pottery and have a friend who has a low temperature electric kiln. We are in Brazil where it is hard or very expensive to get kiln supplies. If I were to use a porcelain (not ceramic) tile with the back side facing up, would this work? Second you mean turning the glazed side down and use as a shelve? this will not work as glaze can melt and stick to whatever its sitting on. You will need bricks(kiln bricks or shelves ) to fire work in a kiln. Mark Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
neilestrick Posted September 16, 2015 Report Share Posted September 16, 2015 Even if the glaze doesn't melt and stick to whatever is holding it up, I wouldn't trust it to handle the repeated heating and cooling without cracking.
