Where Can I Buy Commercial Glazes In New England?

Recommended Posts

Hi - I don't know if this is the right place to post this question but I am travelling in New England (Vermont and Maine) this week and am wondering if anyone knows anywhere to buy commercial cone 6 glazes here. I'm looking for Amaco, Laguna, Speedball...whatever! I posted something in another forum and no one responded -- so I'm trying here. Also, any interesting galleries that show local potters work would be fantastic if any locals have any tips!

Thanks,

Leslie

Where in New England? If you can find the Buyers Guide (free at CM/PMI booth at NCECA) , it lists most vendors in the US and what exactly they are selling.Have you googled ceramic suppliers in your state or an adjacent one? There is one in New England that delivers.

The two I know of in Massachusetts are Portland Pottery which is in Braintree, MA

Sheffield Pottery is western MA.

There is also Amherst Pottery in Amherst Ma. but they can be tempermental. They have great stuff but you never know if they are there or not. I was there one day the place was wide open and not a soul in sight. I could have taken all sorts of stuff with me. I love their clay.

Oh now I read the post over and you're going to be in Vt and Maine. Portland Pottery has a shop in Portland, Maine as well. But I've only been to the shop in Ma.

If you are driving through Mass....and the Boston area on the way to Maine....... make sure to stop in the Pucker Gallery on Newbury Street. Coming show that opens this coming weekend is by 3 generations of the Hamada family........ Shoji, Shinsaku, and Tomoo. The Pucker is one of the best clay galleries in the northeast.
