smarotu
Hello, I think this might be in the wrong thread but I have a problem and I'm not sure where to go for help. Today I accidentally broke one of my friend's artisan bowls. This is the symbol I found on the bottom but I can't identify it. I was wondering if anyone here might know this symbol and could direct me to a company or individual where these are made. I am located in Taipei, Taiwan, but this piece may not be from Taiwan. I want to buy a new one for my friend... hopefully before they notice that this one is missing! Thanks for any help.
bciskepottery
Looks like a Chinese chop seal. Could identify the maker or be a "mood" seal. Try finding someone in your community who reads Chinese or email the image to Henry Li at Blue Heron Arts or Ning Yeh at Oriental Art Supply -- they do seal carving -- and ask if they could interpret the seal for you. smarotu
I read Chinese. This isn't Chinese. At least it's no modern form. But I'll try those two people you mentioned. Thank you!
