Biglou13
Cone 6 Laguna 900 clay Bisque ware washed in what floated to top of shino like glaze. Base glaze Shino like glaze, spodmsoda ash, nephsy epk. Slip trailed glaze plus rio Without wash, glaze is milky white, slip trail is reddish Carmel color. Wash was suggested here I just used what seperated to top of shino like glaze, assuming it mostly soda ash, and some nephsy Then dipped in mixed shino glaze The slip trailed shino with rio Im Super happy with red color of body and colors of glaze. But things came out backwards. The slip trail became white not reddish? The base glaze became reddish? The inside of cup played by rules, milky white.. Bottom of cup unaffected by wash? neilestrick
Unlike most glazes, Shino type glazes get whiter as they get thicker, whether they are a light color or dark color shino. They all go white when they get thick.
