LaniJones1234
Hi all, I have just bisqued a vase which already has underglaze on it - so the underglaze is sealed. However, parts of the underglaze have cracked due to thick application. Is it possible to re apply a thin layer of underglaze on to the now naked parts of the clay where the underglaze has chipped off during bisque? If so, do I need to re-bisque or can I go straight into firing?
kswan
I've done this before. Make sure all flaked underglaze is gone or it could peel up and come off after glaze firing. Fresh underglaze will take glaze differently than bisqued underglaze. You may have to apply a second coat of glaze in the freshly underglazed area. If you bisque fire again, that solves that problem and the glaze will apply evenly. Callie Beller Diesel
