Should kiln still heat up if controller doesn't

Recommended Posts

Hi

I may be sounding stupid but if I don't ask I'll never learn. My old pottery craft p5976 kiln stopped working. As I turned it on the controller lit up then went off. The light on the kiln is on but it won't heat up. Would it still work if the controller was broken? Any advice would be very welcome. Thank you.

It depends. If just the controller screen is dead, like the numbers don't show but everything else is still working and it's still sending signals to the relays then it could fire. But usually if the screen goes dead it's because the circuit board itself is dead, so I wouldn't expect it to work. The only way the elements will get electricity is if the controller tells the relays to send power through to the elements.
