In preheat mode the kiln will heat at 60f per hour until it reaches 180 degrees then hold at that temperature for the number of hours set. So if you have a very heavy load or even wet load or even leaving the lid open for a bit for whatever reason it could take let’s say 2 hours to get to 180 degrees, then 2 more hours for the hold.
