Mayaky
Hi there I started using B-3 Brown WC391 and loving it. slow bisque at ^6 - came out beautiful black. tried clear glaze at slow ^5 - came out very brown and cloudy in areas. Any advice? Trying to keep it black on black and hopefully as close as possible to the color of the bisque result. Mostly dinnerware. so looking for clear glaze that works or a good black. thank you. Min
Have a look at the Plainsman Coffee Clay page here and the Alberta Slip Amber Glaze GA6A here. The "clear" glazes both contain approx 4% iron which helps clear the micro bubbles from clear glazes that causes the cloudy off colour look to them. On white/buff claybodies these are amber coloured but on dark bodies they come across as clear. If you want a good black glaze Licorice is a tried and true one from Mastering Cone 6 Glazes by Hesselberth and Roy. Welcome to the forum.
