neilestrick Posted November 23, 2020 Report Share Posted November 23, 2020 This wiring diagram probably doesn't exist anywhere any more. However www.theceramicshop.com has elements for Blue Diamond kilns, so they may have an old wiring diagram laying around, but it may just be that they're making elements based on the wattage of each kiln. Most kilns larger than 18x18 interior have elements wired in parallel pairs. Smaller kilns sometimes have them wired in series, others run them in two separate 120 volt circuits. Where it gets complicated is when they start using timers and relays in addition to manual switches. Is there a particular problem you need the wiring diagram for? neilestrick Posted November 24, 2020 Report Share Posted November 24, 2020 All the infinite switches I've seen can only handle lower amperages, 15 amps max, and are used on small kilns. neilestrick Posted November 24, 2020 Report Share Posted November 24, 2020 If it's a single phase kiln, the Olympic Electrositter is the least expensive and only direct replacement option for a Sitter. Your other options are wall mounted digital control boxes, where you plug the kiln into the box and it takes over from there, and the Sitter can be left in place and used as a safety backup. Olympic, Skutt, Evenheat, and Orton all make versions of those. The benefits of the wall mounted systems are that the electronics stay cooler since they're not mounted to the kiln, and they're usually bigger boxes, too, so they're easier to work in if you ever need to make repairs. And they're available for 3 phase kilns. The benefit of the Electrositter is that it's mounted right on the kiln so fewer wires around the kiln.
