Michelle Spiziri
I need help! Im fairly new to clay and glazing. I recently bought some intensive red, the cerdec-degussa intensive red. How Do I apply this? At first I thought you just add water then apply to bisque ware. then I thought in order to get more intense red was to add some zirconium opacifier. if I add the stain w/o the opacifier will it be flat or Matt? if added will it be glossy? I am working on figurative wall plaques and I want intense colors that will be painted with glazes, possibly underglazes too, except where I add the CD red.- I wanted to paint red behind her on the wall plaque (see attachment) I am sculpting using high fire paper clay. I also use low fire clays and assume I can use this stain on low fire clays as well as a stain or on majolica. question: when do I apply? how do I apply? (w water alone or w/ zirconium opacifier) can I stain on bone dry pre bisque ware?
