Aditi
Glaze used - amaco low fire cone 05 glazes. I have applied the glaze on a bisque fired terracotta tile (900°c). After applying glaze to the bisque tile, I then fired the tile to 1046°c (firing cycle - 6 hours), turned off the kiln once it hit that temperature and let it cool for over 12 hours. I use a semi automatic electric kiln where I can only alter the amperes. As seen in the images, the glaze has bubbles, crazing, craters and pinholes. Could you please tell me how to go about it or where I might have gone wrong so I can get it right the next time? Thank you, Aditi
neilestrick
Could be a problem with inadequate burnout during the bisque, or the glaze needs more time/heat. Depending on the rate at which you were firing, 1046C may be too low, as that's cone 04 at a rate of 15C/hr. Did you use cones?
