K.I.S.S is very old, it will be replaced sooner than later. Bartlett seems to be keeping everything in house proprietary even their web interface which I believe is no charge at this point. If that is still the case, I think smart from a business standpoint to get the thing as bullet proof as practical. I doubt they would gain many new users if they opened it up. Most potters are in it for the ease of use, likely they could only gain a small number of users sophisticated enough to create their own stuff.
