Magnolia Mud Research
Joel, Yes the alcohol is for cleaning brushes, and thinning the shellac if it needs it which is almost never. Ron, No offense taken, I haven't looked at commercial shellac formation since the 80's and was clarifying my experience with it. All is well. I fully agree with Mark about developing skill in application. Glazing is 99+ percent application and waxing is part of glazing. The only wax work I use now is on lids - a wax alumina hydrate mixture - to keep the lids from fusing together. There are a lot of ways to keep glaze away from portions of a piece. I have used masking tape, white glue, school crayons, motor oil, acrylic paint, they all worked but each has limitations. But success comes from using something that you can control on the object you are working with. I have not found a universal medium. LT
