Have you tried just chiseling it off? Grinding makes a lot of dust. If you are planning to grind be sure to use protective eyewear, protective gloves, a shop apron and a face mask. Have exhaust ventilation going and keep all visitors as well as pets out of the studio. Clean yourself off well after doing this and wet mop your shoes as well as the studio. Be safe. Guest JBaymore Posted June 15, 2011 Report Share Posted June 15, 2011 As a woodfirer I use angle grinders and Dremel tools a lot for clean up work. Pretty much a necessity for wood fire. Check out Harbour Freight for some good prices on tools. Also...... do yourself a favor and invest in diamond blades for cleaning up claywork for both angle grinders and the Dremel. WELL worth the money. Like a hot knife through butter. You actuallty have to be careful to not cut too much. And get a GOOD P-100 half-face respirator, make sure it fits, and wear it. Grind outdoors.
