Paul Plumber

I have a bathroom sink that is made of soft ceramic. The glazed surface area near the drain is cracked and ugly. I am thinking of sanding off the old glaze in an area about 3" in radius around the sink hole and re apply low temperature glaze using a blow torch. Would that work? I don't know much about ceramic at all. Please comment.
