  1. Hi, The reason I’d like to fire my pieces to 1250°C is because my kiln only has a few preset temperatures, one of which being 1250°C. And yes, I’d like to make all my work functional and hence food-safe How could I adjust this recipe to make it more glossy? Thanks
  2. Hello, I'm just starting the process of making my own glaze recipes and I'm looking for a good base glaze recipe so that I can have some solid foundations. Ideally, I'd like to try a glossy and a satin/semi-gloss base to see which one I like most. I live in the UK and my main supplier is Bath Potters' Supplies so I would ideally like all my raw materials to be available on that website. Also I would like the glaze to fire at around cone 7 or 1250°C. I've tried to do some research and then experimented on a glaze calculator website and came to this as a base recipe: Potash Feldspar - 45 Wollastonite - 25 China Clay - 15 Nepheline Syenite - 15 Can anyone tell me if there is anything wrong with this recipe before I buy the materials? If so, how can I fix it so I get the type of glaze I want. Or if it's so badly wrong, can anyone give me a decent base recipe they know? Thanks for your help, I really am a novice when it comes to mixing my own glazes - there is a lot more chemistry involved in it than I thought.
