Was in S F at the Asian art museum on other business with the museum store and the store director invited me into their first annual sale for local artists at the museum. I thanked her and declined, very nice to get the offer for one of the spots, but it seems like a lot of trouble dragging a bunch of big fragile ceramics around the city to and from the car only to lug most if not all home and paying a huge commission in the process. Probably a mistake passing, but it just doesn't feel like a good fit for me at the moment. Might be something someone else local might want to investigate, there may be an opening for the sale and the director is planning to make this sale annually.

I have been waiting for six months to see these results. Well worth the wait.

Thanks Tom, I've never put much effort into my glazes mostly going with what was available and trying to make it work, sometimes with success and sometimes not so much. I can do pretty much with the clay as I wish I think, I'm a novice working with glaze chemistry and my experiments salvage jobs at best. Not that they don't work...the end result of the combination of glaze, and firings winds up being to complex to depend on. So the search for bright colors I like continues my last c6 celadon was disappointing , my own fault doing little bits here and there with ceramics I need to focus.
I'm in the north Nevada desert now finding everything but gold, tacks, bird shot, nails, bullets...did I say bullets lots of bullets and shells, tiny tiny bits of rust up to big old pieces of tin...spent the better part of today finding and replacing one of my tires that turned into something resembling a birds nest, the Nevada desert hates tires you see their shredded remains everywhere out here.

I've been chomping at the bit to get outdoors, clear my creative head...so, after a few delays, my wife was sick (better not go yet) and so on and so forth I finally made it out on the road at 3am Wednesday morning (insert happy face here). The road was empty and conditions were clear, the drive up to lovelock was easy as 6 hour drives go and the gnawing pain on the left side of my lower back was tolerable. I checked into the casino at 9 in the morning and they had a room ready right away...

I just got a great report back from an artist friend, her son is taking his first ceramics class in high school, so I gave him an hour lesson on the wheel one night when they were over visiting. His ceramics class just had their first day throwing on treadle wheels and he was able to throw a nice pot on his first try, the instructor told him he was the best new student he'd ever had! His mom and dad are both artists so I think he has great natural talent as well. His parents want to w...

I spend my mornings drinking coffee and going through the gallery postings. I encourage all members to check out recent postings. The recent work posted by Pugaboo, Giselle, Joseph, 1515Art, and others is really impressive.
