Mountain Meg
I would appreciate a cone 6 firing schedule for our updraft West Coast kiln. Thank you to those of you who have helped us get to this point with our new kiln. We are successful with candling and have learned so much about the damper. Look forward to firing schedules, too! You can tell, I am excited and so ready to do cone 6 and the cone 10.
Marcia Selsor
I fired a an updraft Olsen with 14 burners when I taught for a year at UTB. I followed the kiln log which started with the damper about 1/3 open and half the burners on. (the outside ring of burners on low ). 2 hours later turned on the inner ring of burners on low. Increased the pressure hourly until about 25% open on natural gas gauge . It took about 14 hours for ^10 and 11 hours for ^6. I did a body reduction at 09-04 and glaze reduction at ^8 or ^5 depending by shutting the dampers down to about 1/8th open for about 45 minutes each. The air disc on all the burners were rusted solid , so no adjustment there. Hope this helps. Not the same but you get the idea. This kiln was big. This photo was ^6.
