But, it will run on a house hold wiring *** 20amp breaker and upgraded wiring. For a starter kiln it is small. Just my opinion. It is a nice price but don't think you can just plug it in without upgrading your wiring. You should be able to get 8 -10 mugs into it. That should give you an idea of the capacity. If that is all you need, go for it. But do make sure you have the wiring checked in your studio before firing it. My wiring in Brownsville was much lighter weight than what I had for my kiln in Montana. I had to replace it. The outlet melted..not badly but enough to cause concern. So use the right wiring. neilestrick Posted March 10, 2013 Report Share Posted March 10, 2013 Since you have to put in wiring anyway, I would hold out for something a little bit bigger, like an 18x18 inch kiln, which would need a 30 amp breaker.
