melissa120906
I am new to the pottery/ceramics world... I made a couple bowls out of air dry clay and am wondering what is the best way to finish them. I would like to paint one with brighter colors and the other leave more natural. What is suggested to paint this type of clay with? And, is there any food-safe shellac style topcoat I can put on it protect it? Any suggestions if greatly appreciated. Beeclay
Did you get any responses? I have the same question!
Chris Campbell
I would suggest you also ask this question on a polymer clay since they might be more likely to use some kind of food safe sealants. Obviously you could only use air dried clay bowls for dry foods such as chips or crackers so you could easily wipe them clean.
Pres
Another thought here would be to contact the manufacturer. This would put the onus for food safe on them, and at the same time save you a lot of search time. best, Pres
