Marcia Selsor
This is another photo from the Zurich Medical Museum. I was in Zurich for week with my husband so I got a museum pass to all the museum in our area. The close up shows some Deruta apothecary jars among others. The barrel shaped apothecary jars were supposedly shaped after sections of bamboo cane which were used in transporting herbs, spices, and medicine along the silk road. This shape developed into the renaissance majolica Apothecary jars found in Spain and Italy as well as Switzerland. Marcia
Frederik-W
They are absolutely wonderful ! So crafty and arty. We have come a long way since then (backwards) with our modern day throw-away plastic and glass to hold the same things.
