rissierae
I'm looking at getting the Pure and Simple plaster bat mold system and am wondering if anybody on here has worked with them? How did you like it? At the moment I'm only planning on making the plain ol' flat bats used for throwing. Any information is appreciated! Thanks! Mark C.
We use their drape molds-the baking dish ones-she makes a great product For throwing bats we cast them from metal pie pans-the 6 inch and 9 inch sizes I have not used her bat system Mark
Idaho Potter
I have purchased plaster bat systems, but still use the ones I made 25 years ago--using spring-form pans (rings only) as the molds. I put the forms on a formica sink cut-out, soft clay where form and formica meet. Make sure surface is level and pour plaster. As the plaster sets up, it expands so the release clamps on the spring-forms allows a quick way to allow this expansion once the plaster is set but not completely cured. I don't know what the Pure and Simple system costs, so can't speak to the comparison of costs or simplicity of use.
