Marcia Selsor
Wondering if anyone has a celedon type of glaze for ^6 in an electric kiln. My celedon is a combination of two glazes. You need to adjust the combo to the color you like. Since I have these mixed up already I ended up combining 3 parts Faux celedon to 2 parts Mizuno. The Faux celedon is a fat glaze. The Mizuno is a shiney clear. I was doing color tests to match a ^10 reduction celedon. Faux Celedon Whiting 18.5 Neph Syen 25.8 EPKaolin 18 Silica 31.5 Gerstley Bor 4.6 97.4 add to Faux base 0.5 copper Carbonate 0.025 Black Stain 6600 0.02 iron oxide Mizuno Clear Whiting 7 Zinc OX. 5 Kaolin 9 Silica 21 Gerstley B 8 Talc 2 F-4 spar 48 100 The final result was identical to a celedon I tweaked in Hawaii ^10 REDUCTION. Hope this is of some use. I will eventually work out the combined recipe when I go to mix glazes next time. But here it is as I am now using it.
