rtl
I was given an old hand built gas kiln that was used for glass. It is 26 x 27 x 33" I replaced the four burners to venturi burners It is run on natural gas The damper is 9 x 5" It reaches 1,900 degrees in 5 hours or so, but then temp climbs average of 60 degrees I tried four times with slight variations of end temp, left the firing 2 times for 14 hours, but I was never able to reach cone 6. Any suggestions? I noticed the walls are fire bricks but only one layer, could it be that I'm loosing too much heat?
Benhim
Why did you repower it with new burners? The first thing I'd check is the supply lines and amount of fuel being supplied to the burners in water column inches. You should be able to read this on your regulator. Marcia Selsor
I would check the BTU ratings of the venturis and also the four old burners. You may also want to check if the orafices on the venturi burners were for LP or natural gas. They differ. Why did you change burners? Were the old burners for natural gas or LP?
