Marvin Horn Posted May 21, 2015 Report Share Posted May 21, 2015 I consistently fire about a half cone cooler in the top and bottom of my Olympic 2327HE single zone kiln, Watching loading and shelf spacing helps but doesn’t eliminate the situation. I was wondering if it’s possible to simply add two new T/Cs and split the relay outputs to convert the Bartlett Controller to three zone control. As far as I can determine the actual controller board is standard and determines zone control based on how T/Cs are connected. Any help would be appreciated. Yes, I know this voids the warrenties. neilestrick Posted May 21, 2015 Report Share Posted May 21, 2015 Yes, you can add TC's and wire it appropriately. I assume the controller is a Bartlett V6-CF? Refer to the manual for how to program for the number of zones you have. It won't automatically recognize the TC's, you have to program it. I think Bartlett has wiring diagrams on their site. Hi Marvin, You can add T/C's and rerout the wires to the relays from the board, you also need some type K extension wire for the new TC's You will need the code to get in deep enough to reprogram for zone control, unless that has allready been done and single zone was chosen for your kiln. Look at the posts on metal spitting from thermocouple, I am not in agreement about using a mullite protection tube and the offset you have to put in the controller. I don't have any offset on mine, and get great results. My thermocouple is in a metal Omegaclad tube. David Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

David Woodin Posted May 24, 2015 Report Share Posted May 24, 2015 Before changing to zone control you could try a slower ramp rate for the last 200 degree's of firing. If interested I could give you the top temperature you would fire to if using say 75 deg F/hr. You would need to make your own user program.
