Tati
I have a manual kiln (fibre) that stalls out about 1180c, and then have to do a long soak till my cones go down. Is it possible to change the elements to make the kiln reach 6^ 1220c? Currently the kiln has: 6 elements that work in pairs 235V 2.5kw 25amp breaker Single phase Edited 21 hours ago by Tati
neilestrick
What is the brand and model of your kiln? What is the max temperature rating? Swapping out elements to get more power is not a simple thing. More heat requires more amperage, which often means changing out the wiring in the kiln to accommodate the higher amperage draw, as well as upgrading the service line and breaker. Tati
Hi Neil, I have an AFC kiln (i'm in australia) that was previously refurbished by a hobbyist. I can't find the model or max temp rating as the plaque is gone and so is my ablility to contact the refurbisher. It's about due for new elements hence my query as what to do if anything. I did recently add new fiber that is rated to 1400C not sure if that has any bearing.
