LelleBird
I have waited a lot of years to finally retire from my day job and had stored this 818 Skutt kiln without the control box on the front thinking it was good to keep the control box in my office where it is dry and safe. I did not look at the kiln (which I bought new) for years while it aged out in my basement storage. The wires all look a little frayed and I am scared to hook it up because of this. Is this fixable? Should I worry about the wires being frayed like this? Thanks so much for your time and help.

What you're seeing there is the outer insulation fraying where it was stripped back, which is perfectly normal. Welcome to the forum!
