I work in a shared studio and all firing is done at cone 6. The manganese gives nice spots and does not cause any pitting. It definitely melts at cone 6. I did a dumb experiment adding it to a glaze and I got grey runny streaks.
I have my own brush on commercial glazes and the studio has dipping glazes. I also have a bag of dry glaze that I can experiment with. It was another studios left over giveaway freebie and I don’t know the ingredients, but it is a white gloss glaze.
this would be for decorative work like the outside of a vase. I have no control over the firing schedule but have been told it is a standard cone 6. I have commercial paint on glazes and the studio has dipping glazes. I will see if I can get the recipe for the clear and the gloss white studio glazes.
I have a commercial crackle glaze which makes a very dense crackle pattern.
Is there any way to decrease the density of the crackle pattern to make it
look more like a Raku pattern?
I fire at cone 6 at a community kiln and use their dipping glazes and Amaco commercial glazes.. Is there any additive which would make these glazes craze? I am looking to increase crazing.
