  1. The tile is mainly used for kitchen backsplashes and in bathrooms. And yes, it is important for the glaze to be translucent.
  2. I use a low fire white earthenware clay body and the glaze I’m having the most trouble with is IN1036 Bluegrass, made by Mayco. I bisque fire to 04, and then usually glaze fire to 06, although 05 looks slightly better right now? I’m also experimenting with no peeps, which helps a little. The glaze color is supposed to look like the emerald green 3x8s on the right, but it’s looking more turquoise and splotchy and uneven like the 3x12’s on the left. (These aren’t the worst examples, but the only side by side I have right now ) any thoughts???
  3. The earthenware I use for my handmade tile is now reacting poorly to green glazes, I’m thinking due to the lack of talc. In general the glaze finishes appear splotchy and uneven, and the colors are not the same as they were before. does anyone have any insight or suggestions for what I can add to my glazes to solve this??
