  1. @neilestrick Another question- Am I able to use an extension cord with my kiln?
  2. @neilestrick Thank you so much for the info. I FINALLY have an appointment to have electric setup for for the kiln and just asked if they could use 6 gauge wire to do so. I can’t wait! Also, what size kiln stand will this kiln need? Or, I’ve seen you can use cinder blocks instead?
  3. I have what I believe to be a Skutt 181 kiln w/ Kiln Sitter. Here is the issue- I’m wanting to plug the kiln into the clothes dryer outlet which is the same amps. The problem is that the outlet is for a 3 prong head. The dryer is a 3 wire. The kiln is a 4 wire. I’d really love to have both with the same type of cord head (replacing the dryer cord head as well). Is this possible to do? What type of cord head would be best? The outlet is a really old style and could be updated. Thank you so much!
  4. Hi all! I recently purchased a used Lockerbie wheel that came with a free kiln as it was unknown if it is working. I am a beginner in the ceramics world and have been taking classes but kilns are beyond me. I am thrilled to have it but man, I can't seem to get a for sure identity on it. I believe it is an OLD Skutt. Maybe model 181 but the label on the kiln is missing. This is a manual kiln with a Kiln Sitter. It looks to be in great shape (my pottery instructor told me this as well) but man. I would really like to know how many amps I will need in an outlet for it but with no model number.. oye.
