  1. Roughly how long should it take the coils to glow once turned on high? Thank you !
  2. Hi, Thank you for reading! I am desperate to get my kiln working, I have been working on it for 6 months now. My husband has helped me replace the elements, it worked for 2-3 firings then wouldn't reach cone 5 but would bisc fire fire. We replaced the switches and the electoral tabs at the ends of the wires where they meet the switches & coils. It is still only firing to cone 3/4. The kiln sitter was replaced about 9 yrs ago and has probably done about 100 firings.... I don't think there is anything else to replace. Do you think its the kiln sitter? It has been calibrated correctly too. My only other thought is if my husband could have made a mix up when installing the infinity switches. He is wondering if we should install the other kind of switch with only low/med/high spots, even though this is not how this kiln was built. It is a cress b23 h.... Very Very old maybe 30 yrs old? Is putting any more time/ money into this a lost cause? Thank you for your thoughts and help.
  3. Hi, I have a B23 H CRESS kiln with sitter that has not been performing well (I think it is over 20 years old). It used to fire to temperate no problem. I replaced the elements 6 months ago and it was working well. .. Then it wasn't reaching temp again shortly after, it is very possible it got rained on lightly or had misty dew on it a few time but not heavy rain... . My husband then disconnected all the connections to the coils/cleaned up the screws and reattached them again it reached cone 6 for one firing. Now it won't even reach 06 for a bisc fire just 2 weeks later. Any recommendations on how to solve this? My main question is if I upgrade with an electric controller or replace the electrical components should it start working consistently? Do you think this is repairable? Or is it time for a new kiln? Thank you in advance !!!
