  1. What I am looking to do is find a material/method to fill in the concave space under existing, completed, fired and glazed coffee mugs to get a higher percentage of contact with my mug-warmers.

you might try posting this query in the Studio Operations category for a wider response...but since we're here, you might try Bondo...

Thanks... I trust this was a serious solution.. not just humor, though it is kinda funny.   Wondering if Bondo can holdup to regular cycling up to 200+ deg and if it is a good heat-conductor..  Also wondering if I need to grind off the existing glaze on the bottom before Bondo-ing.  Or if heating Bondo will produce any unpleasant odors around the office.

It would be a serious fix. Try it on one mug...I would take a grinder to the existing glaze to rough it up...you don't have to remove it all. The resin smell should go away after it is completely dry. Then, after it is completely dry, sand the bottom smooth. Try it out at home before you bring it into the office just to make sure all goes well.
