  1. Hi everyone! I have very many very vague questions about this glaze! I am a high school ceramics student and have a project to replicate a Lucie Rie piece. According to the website I found information about the piece on, the glaze is manganese but I don't know what transformation/variance of manganese it is. The glaze is a brownish purple hue that is a solid matte. Is there a specific name for this glaze? also, I am very worried by the comments that warn that manganese should not be used because of its toxic nature, especially for a relatively beginning ceramicist as myself. If I do use it, what precautions should I take? Thank you :)))
