  1. I am in the process of researching what I need for my own studio space in my back garden. I would love to hear from fellow studio potters how much space they have, how much space they think is needed and how happy they are with the space they have for their studio. I would be working mainly on my own and perhaps with one other. I work mainly on the wheel, but also do hand work so would need a work bench, shelving, kiln and storage space for glazes, clay etc. I don't intend making vast volumes of work like a production potter, but would be making on the scale of an average studio potter. I would be building the studio from the ground up and was thinking that 3x3m or 3x4m (around 12 square metres) would be a good amount of space, but would love to hear what you think as I could go bigger or smaller.
