Ceramic work by Daryl E. Baird, Sagle, ID
  2. From the album: Daryl Baird

A total of 25 steps are taken to complete each box. After extruding the clay, it is cut to length, a top and bottom slab are attached and the sealed box is scraped to improve the shape. A knife is used to separate the box's lid. The interior is cleaned up and four holes are drilled in the top. After firing and glazing, a twig handle and metal leaves will be attached to the lid using waxed linen cord.

These boxes were made from clay that was extruded through an oval-shaped die. The boxes are approximately 6" high and 4" wide. Each is finished with a twig handle and metal leaves.
