My very first clay project

Made of red rock clay this picture is before firing. It is out of the kiln now and after it gets graded I get to bring it home :-)

I am taking a ceramics 1 class and enjoying my first experiences with clay. This vessel was hand built/ coil built. We took inspiration from Jomon pots but were given creative freedom. Our second project is a slab built plate and third project will be a hollow slab built Haniwa tomb figure inspired piece. Our last project will be a Yixing inspired teapot. At the end of the class we will be introduced to throwing on the wheel. I'm loving every minute of it!
